Variable Software ("we," "us," or "our") operates Starglow (the "App"). This policy explains what information the App collects, how it's used, and the choices you have.
01 Information we collect
Information you provide
None. The App has no account system and does not ask for your name, email, or any other contact information.
Information collected with your consent
Where analytics and crash reporting are enabled (see Your choices below), the App collects:
- Gameplay events, such as when a puzzle piece is placed or a chapter is completed, identified only by an internal event name — not a screenshot of your board, a theme's display name, or anything you typed.
- Session length, device model, operating system version, app version, and your coarse country derived from your device's network address, which is not otherwise logged or stored.
- If you are enrolled in an experiment, which variant you are in.
- If the App crashes, a crash report describing what went wrong in the code, with no personal data attached.
The App does not attach any other information to these events, and does not build a profile of you beyond what its analytics and crash-reporting services do on its behalf.
02 Advertising
The App shows advertising. Depending on your region and choices:
- In regions that require it, you see a privacy choices form before any personalized advertising occurs, and you can change your choice at any time from Settings → Privacy choices.
- On some devices, the App requests permission before showing personalized ads; if you decline, or a required choice has not yet been made, you still see ads, but they are not personalized.
- Advertising partners may use device identifiers, where permitted, to serve and measure ads. This is governed by this provider's privacy policy.
03 Purchases
The App offers optional in-app purchases, including removing ads and additional in-game boosts. Purchases are processed by the platform store you installed the App from; the App does not see or store your payment information.
04 Your choices
In the App's Settings → Diagnostics/Privacy, you can:
- Turn analytics collection on or off (or, where required by law, choose to opt in), applied immediately.
- Open Privacy choices to change ad personalization, or to revisit a required consent choice if one was presented to you.
Turning off analytics or ad personalization does not affect your ability to play — the core game works fully offline with no ads-related gate.
05 Data retention
The App keeps information only for as long as necessary to provide the analytics, crash reporting, advertising, and purchase services described in this policy, consistent with applicable law. Your on-device save data persists until you uninstall the App or clear its data yourself; the App has no way to access, delete, or restore that data because it does not receive it.
06 Children's privacy
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13; it does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, and its content is not child-specific.
07 Changes to this policy
Material changes to this policy are reflected by an updated "Last updated" date above, with additional notice provided where required.
